SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Hairu Wang is a cellist and pianist, born in January 2005 in Beijing, China. She began piano studies at the age of six and started the cello at ten.

Hairu’s dedication and passion for music earned her admission to the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music Middle School in Beijing in 2019, In 2021, she furthered her studies at Chetham’s School of Music in the United Kingdom, pursuing cello as her primary focus under the guidance of Nicholas Jones and piano as her second study. Most recently, in 2023, Hairu was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London, where she studies cello under the guidance of Professor Alexander Chaushian.

Throughout her career, Hairu has consistently excelled in both national and international competitions. As a pianist, she secured numerous accolades, including First Prize at the Asian Youth Music Competition and second prize at the Steinway International Youth Piano Competition in Beijing. Her achievements as a cellist are equally distinguished, with the first prize of the prestigious Salzburg International Music Competition, where she also received the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize.

Hairu has also showcased her artistry in numerous solo and chamber performances across China and Europe. Highlights of her performance experience include appearances at the German and Austrian embassies, the Beijing Concert Hall in a production of ‘The Magic Flute’ ,and multiple high-profile recital venues. In 2022, she performed Brahms' Cello Sonata at Bridgewater Hall and Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra at the Stoller Hall. Her future engagements include a 2024 lunchtime recital at St. James’s Church, Paddington, London.

With her exceptional musicianship and relentless pursuit of artistic excellence, Hairu Wang continues to establish herself as a prominent young talent on the international stage.
