SHORT BIOGRPAHY
Maksims Skibickis started playing cello at the age of 8. Graduated Emīls Dārziņš music school, where studied with Ellionora Testeļeca and then Diana Ozoliņa. Two years ago he started his studies at Jāzeps Vītols Academy of Music Latvia.
As soloist Maksims has won several prizes in national and international competition, for example, Latvian national music competition (2018), Karl Davydov international cello competition (2016) and JSfest international competition in Finland (2019) and “Čello Cēsis” competition (2024).
He has participated in masterclasses with Nicholas Jones, Gautier Capuçon, Mischa Maisky, Reinhard Latzko, Denis Shapovalov, Jean-Guihen Queyras, István Várdai and Leonid Gorokhov.
