SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Zofia Sikora (born in 2003) started her music education at the age of 7 in the class of Anna
Skibińska-Haponiuk in the Szymanowski Complex of State Music Schools No.4 in Warsaw,
Poland. During 2019-2021 she studied also with Tomasz Strahl. Currently she is a student of the well-renowned Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien in the class of Prof.
Stefan Kropfitsch. She mastered her skills through classes with great cellists such as
Julius Berger, Jérôme Pernoo, László Fenyő, Kyril Zlotnikov, Yumi Kendall, Marko Ylönen,
Raphael Flieder, David Pennetzdorfer and excellent musicians such as Johannes Meissl, Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto, Stefan Mendl.
Zofia has performed at concert halls including The Grand Theater - National Opera in
Warsaw, Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Schloss Esterhazy in Eisenstadt, The
Royal Castle in Warsaw, The National Forum of Music in Wroclaw (NFM), The Krzysztof
Penderecki European Center of Music (Lusławice), Das MuTh(Vienna). In her music career
Zofia has been awarded at numerous cello competitions including 2nd prize at The 12 th Jan Vychytil Cello Competition (Prague), 1st prize at 10th Jubilee Polish National Cello
Competition “Young Polish Cellist” 2018 (Bochnia), 3rd prize at International Moscow
Music Competition 2020, 1st prize at 12th World Open Music Competition in Serbia 2021
and many more. Zofia participated in academies such as the Sommerakademie der Wiener
Philharmoniker (2024), Cracow International Spring Cello Academy (2023), 8th International
Cello Academy (2021).
She was a scholarship holder of the Polish Children’s Fund (a program which assists gifted
young people to develop their talents) from 2015 to 2021. She has been awarded the
scholarship of Minister of Culture and National Heritage for artistic achievements four times
as well as the scholarship of Minister of Culture and National Heritage in XVIII edition of the
scholarship programme “Young Poland”.
