SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Katrina Emilie Ligeika was born in the United States. When she was fourteen, she moved to Lithuania to continue her music studies and won the Lithuanian Young Violoncellists‘ Competition that same year. She is a graduate of the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art and the Lithuanian Academy of Music in Vilnius. In 2021 Katrina studied at the Zurich University of Arts in Switzerland. She performed at the Zurich Tonhalle and in Basel as a member of the ZHdK Orchestra, and played chamber music concerts in Winterthur. The following year Katrina played in the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. She was invited to perform as a soloist at the Lithuanian World Community Convention in 2022. In the summer of 2023, Katrina participated in masterclasses with prof. Eleonora Testeleca and prof. David Geringas. Since then, she has played concerts in the Baltic states, Germany and Switzerland. Since September 2024 Katrina is continuing her master’s degree at the Lithuanian Academy of Music with doc. Edmundas Kulikauskas. She is the concertmaster of the Lithuanian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. She has recently participated in masterclasses with H. Brendstrup, P. Wispelway and J. Eggner. In December of 2024, she became a prizewinner of the LMTA 2024 String Competition.
